Kanye West is trying to turn over a new leaf as we enter the new year. After a year of several negative headlines due to his anti-semitic comments, the Chicago producer apologized to the Jewish community and notably wrote the apology in Hebrew.
Ye shared the apology via Instagram on Tuesday (Dec. 26), which when translated into English reads as follows: “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for my unplanned outburst caused by my words or actions, it was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.”
The Donda artist stated that he is committed to learning from the experience and being more sensitive and understanding to other communities moving forward. He emphasized that forgiveness is important to him as he hopes to “make amends” and promote “unity.”
Kanye West’s apology comes just a few weeks after he was caught on camera making anti-semitic remarks while in Las Vegas. “It’s 60 million of us in America, 60 million Jews in the world,” he said to a crowd of people in the room. “Who’s going to make the hospitals, though? He’s a Zionist, [Donald] Trump. This is what I’ve been trying to tell you. Jesus Christ, Hitler, Ye, third party—sponsor that. Because it’s gon be some ni**as who feel exactly like me.”
The apology is also noteworthy as Ye is preparing to release new music. He and Ty Dolla $ign, under the moniker ¥$, are set to put out their collaborative album Vultures soon. They held a listening event during Art Basel in Miami where Chris Brown, Offset, Lil Durk, Kodak Black, Freddie Gibbs, and more were all present.
A major highlight from the event was his daughter, North West, appearing on a song called “Slide.” She joined her father onstage to perform her portion of the record.
