Evisu and Palace Sell Out Their Ode to ‘90s London Club Scene

Though most of the world is grappling with COVID-19, streetwear drops continue to have clout.

The latest collaboration between London-based skateboard brand Palace and Japanese denim brand Evisu dropped on Friday and immediately sold out.

Described as a “an affectionate homage to the massive role Evisu played in the London club scene,” the Palace Evisu collection offered bold denim looks inspired by the city’s  vibrant club scene in the late ’90s and early ’00s.

The collection was anchored by 13.5-ounce selvedge jeans and a jean jacket embellished with numerous coin pockets, each decorated with the collaboration’s colorful dual branding. A selvedge denim bucket hat, tote bag as well as a range of pullovers, sweatshirts and T-shirts available in multiple colors rounded out the collection.

Prior to the launch, the brands teased the collection with a promo video, shot by filmmaker Rollo Jackson, following London MC Skibadee as he enters a psychedelic dimension while wearing items in the collection.

The collaboration celebrates both brands’ eccentric marketing style, as seen in the product descriptions on the Palace website. Alongside a photo of the Palace Evisu hooded sweatshirt is a message that reads “Anyone else watching daytime TV and eating biscuits all day.”
