Atelier & Repairs unveiled a new capsule collection this week that re-engineers the all-American chino.
The Los Angeles-based upcycling brand partnered with Dockers to create a three-piece men’s chino collection that adds subtle elements of fashion and utility to the timeless garment.
Rather than start from scratch, Atelier & Repairs’ circular approach sources existing product to reimagine and create modern apparel with intentional design.
“Dockers is a blank canvas,” said Atelier & Repairs founder Maurizio Donadi. “They are a widely democratic brand that is recognized for great quality at an affordable price point, which was the perfect foundation for me to reimagine what a pair of chinos is.”
Donadi said he didn’t want the redesigned chinos to be far away from the authenticity of Dockers. “In my eyes, Dockers is not an exclusive brand. It is an inclusive brand, and I think what we’ve created really speaks to that,” he said.
The initial collection focuses on Dockers’ best-selling Signature Khaki, a classic, pleated fit pant. The Kennedy is detailed with blue chambray, completed with a shoestring belt tie and button detailing. The Camo Stripe uses camouflage fabric to reinforce wear points like the side seams and belt loops. The Traveler is retrofitted with unexpected monochromatic pocketing. The bottoms feature Dockers’ branded buttons and signature insignia on the back.
