Levi’s Celebrates 501 Day With Heron Preston Capsule

San Franscisco-native Heron Preston‘s workwear-inspired styles have become something like a calling card, so it makes sense that the designer’s latest collaboration is a collection with local brand, Levi’s.

The special capsule features two designs, both, as Preston puts it, “chopped and twisted,” iterations of the classic 501 jean. Fittingly, only 501 pairs of each design are available, at Levi’s brand stores in New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

The women’s styles is consistent with Preston’s previous collections. The bright-orange accent that’s become his signature is meant to evoke construction workers’ safety vests. The women’s 501s have a hand-dyed orange tint on the front of the jeans, with faded indigo backs and open seams secured by bright orange darts.

The men’s styles also feature distinctive front and back panels, with a black-and-white tie-dye front and a faded indigo back. Both styles come complete with a reversed back pocket and a flattened Red Tab, a Levi’s Batwing tab on the outseam, an orange screen print underneath the back patch and a special-edition Heron Preston label.

Preston modeled the 501 jeans at the 501 Day event in Los Angeles Saturday, which he co-hosted with the new face of the 501, Hailey Bieber.

Preston has participated in collaborations with other brands, too, notably crafting a wide spread of clothes and accessories in his collection for Farfetch and a NASA-inspired range for Kith. His collection with Levi’s comes on the heels of the denim giant’s partnership with Japanese company BEAMS in April.
