Katy Perry Bows Footwear with Global Brands Group

The kaleidoscope booth near the entrance of FN PLATFORM in Las Vegas belonged to who else, but pop star Katy Perry. The singer, known for her tongue-in-cheek costumes and girl power anthems, made an appearance at the show last week to promote her first eponymous shoe line with Global Brands Group.

The collection, which will land in department stores and online in February 2017, spans sneakers to stilettos. Designs reflect Perry’s whimsical sense of style and offers a more affordable alternative to quirky, yet pricey shoes brands like Miu Miu, Charlotte Olympia and Sophia Webster. Perry’s collection will retail for $59-$299.

Retailers got their first look at the collection during FFANY, Aug. 2-4. The eclectic styles combine vinyl uppers, iridescent and metallic colorways and floral prints with pink marabou feathers, star-accented cage heels and Tetris-inspired heel treatments. During her appearance, Perry wore a pair of cigar heel shoes from the collection.

“It’s been a creative goal of mine to be a real contributor in the affordable fashion space,” Perry said in a press release. “Launching a footwear collection felt like a natural first step for me. After years of investigating and researching partnerships to find the right fit for the debut of my line, I found that Global Brands most resonated with my artistic ideas. They understand my vision, my eye for detail, and have the international reach and resources to bring my canvas of ideas to life,” she continued.

Global Brands Group’s portfolio includes JLo by Jennifer Lopez, David Beckham, Rachel Zoe footwear and more. The Group’s President of Footwear Jimmy Gabriel said, “We are very excited to debut Katy Perry Footwear. The collection highlights Katy’s signature style, with unique, standout details within several distinct themes that we believe will resonate with consumers on a global level.”
