Hot off her Super Bowl halftime performance with Katy Perry, Missy Elliott is flooding the Internet again.
This time, the rapper was the subject of a dance tribute led by one of her more famous music video co-stars, Alyson Stoner. Stoner, if you remember, was the nine-year-old girl who broke it down in Elliott’s videos for “Work It,” and “Gossip Folks” as far back as 2004.
Decked out in Adidas track suits and Converse sneakers, the now-21-year-old gets down to the same songs she originally worked on with Elliott (who also tweeted the video, which already has more than 3 million views in three days).
“I dedicate this video to Missy Elliott herself. Missy, thank you so much for the opportunity to dance for you, and now carve a path of my own,” Stoner said in the video.
On Super Bowl Sunday, that final play wasn’t the only thing viewers were buzzing about over the next few days. Following a fireworks-filled halftime performance in which pop star Katy Perry roared (complete with a mechanical lion), the Internet exploded with praise for Perry’s surprise guest. Rocker Lenny Kravitz was a welcome treat and a known addition, but it was surprise-yet-not-a-not-surprise guest Missy Elliott who, some say, stole the show. Perry pretty much gave the five-time Grammy-winning rapper/songwriter/producer her own mini-set during the halftime show (nearly three of the 12 minutes), and danced along with Missy to ’90s hits like “Work It,” “Gossip Folks” and “I’m Really Hot.”
