Unifi Inc. has a new chief executive officer in Kevin Hall, the former ceo of Geneva Watch Group.
With the appointment of Hall, who will also serve on Unifi’s board of directors, Unifi is hoping to use his 30-plus years of experience as a marketing and brand executive with companies including Procter & Gamble, Fidelity Investments, Hanesbrands and most recently Geneva Watch Group, which he joined as ceo in 2014.
“His substantial leadership and managerial experience in the apparel industry coupled with his strong track record of delivering results, developing licensing and business partner relationships will prove invaluable to Unifi in the execution of our strategic growth plan,” Unifi chairman James Mead said of the appointment.
Unifi’s president Tom Caudle added that Hall “brings a perspective and expertise to our business that will be invaluable.”
The company also said Thursday that its chief financial officer Sean Goodman has resigned effective June 24 to join another company.
It’s been over a year since the North Carolina yarn manufacturer saw its former ceo William Jasper suddenly retire and move to a consulting role that ended in late April, but kept him earning his same $750,000 base salary.
Last year, Jasper was named in a lawsuit filed in local North Carolina court by a Unifi sales manager accusing him and some other executives of a scheme involving phony expense reports that covered tens of thousands of dollars in personal purchases. Jasper’s departure was allegedly related to an internal investigation of the scheme, according to local news reports.
A Unifi spokesman said the lawsuit has since been settled, but offered no details on the agreement.
A representative of Geneva Watch Group, which manufactures watches for brands like Ted Baker, Timberland and Kenneth Cole, could not be reached for comment.
